Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly criticized the ongoing recruitment of new commissioners for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), raising concerns over transparency and fairness in the process.

Addressing  the media kalonzo accused the government of attempting to influence the commission’s composition ahead of the 2027 General Election. He called for an impartial and credible selection process to ensure that Kenyans can trust the electoral body.

“The integrity of our elections depends on an independent IEBC. Any attempt to manipulate the recruitment process will undermine democracy,” Musyoka stated.

The former vice president also warned political leaders against engaging in early campaigns, arguing that it distracts from governance and service delivery. He urged leaders to focus on addressing pressing national issues rather than engaging in premature political battles.

“We cannot afford to start campaigns this early while Kenyans are struggling with high living costs and unemployment. Let’s serve the people first,” he added.

Musyoka’s remarks come amid growing political tensions as various leaders position themselves for the next general election. His call for fairness and accountability in the IEBC recruitment process is expected to spark further debate among political stakeholders.
