Incoming Makueni Women Representative Damaris Maweu Condemns Burning of UDA Offices in Wote, Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Political Differences

Incoming Makueni Women Representative Damaris Maweu has strongly condemned the burning of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party offices in Wote Town, describing the incident as unfortunate and a setback to peaceful political engagement in the region.

In her statement, Maweu said that regardless of political differences, all disputes must be resolved through lawful and peaceful means rather than violence or destruction of property. She emphasized that Kenya’s democratic space allows citizens to express their views freely, but within the confines of the Constitution.

She further urged leaders and their supporters to exercise restraint, especially during this period of heightened political activity and public concern over economic challenges, including rising fuel prices that have triggered demonstrations in various parts of the country.

Maweu warned that acts of political violence only serve to divide communities and derail development efforts, calling on security agencies to take firm action against those responsible for the destruction of party property in Wote.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from various political leaders, with calls for calm and dialogue dominating public discourse as investigations into the attack continue.
Maweu reaffirmed her commitment to promoting unity, peace, and constructive political engagement across Makueni County and beyond.
