Dr. Sonvir Singh, MD Shri Krishna Overseas Plc, Champions Family Values and Leadership at Strathmore Business Forum

Dr. Sonvir Singh has called on family-owned businesses to embrace strong values, unity, and visionary leadership as the foundation for building sustainable enterprises that can thrive across generations.

The Managing Director of Shri Krishna Overseas Plc was the Chief Guest at the 5th Annual Family Business Day organized by Strathmore University Business School, where business leaders, entrepreneurs, and young professionals gathered to discuss the future of family enterprises in Africa.

During the event, Dr. Singh delivered a keynote address themed “One Heart, Two Hats: Navigating the Intersection of Family and Business,” highlighting the delicate balance between emotional relationships and professional management within family-run organizations.
He noted that while profitability is important, the true strength of family businesses lies in trust, sacrifice, relationships, shared values, and a commitment to legacy.

“Family businesses are built not only on profit, but on trust, sacrifice, values, relationships, and legacy,” he said.

The discussions focused on critical issues affecting family enterprises, including succession planning, communication, professionalism, leadership development, and preserving family unity while ensuring business growth.
Dr. Singh praised Strathmore Business School for creating a platform that encourages responsible leadership and equips future generations with the skills needed to sustain and expand family businesses.

He described the forum as meaningful and impactful, bringing together leaders and future entrepreneurs to exchange ideas on long-term growth and generational success.

“Family legacy is not built in one day — it is built through values, vision, discipline, and unity across generations,” Dr. Singh emphasized.

The annual Family Business Day continues to position Strathmore University Business School as a key institution in nurturing visionary business leaders and supporting the transformation of African enterprises through education, innovation, and ethical leadership.
