Ex-Convict Arrested in Kangemi Over Waiyaki Way Chaos and Narcotics Allegations

Police in Kangemi have arrested a suspect linked to alleged incitement, malicious damage to property, and criminal activities that disrupted movement along Waiyaki Way.

The suspect, identified as Peter Mulati Kakai, is reported to have previous criminal records and had allegedly been working as a security guard before his arrest. Authorities accuse him of mobilizing groups involved in blocking road entrances and stoning vehicles along the busy highway, causing panic among motorists and residents.

According to police reports, the incident was officially recorded under OB No. 43/30/4/2026 at 1748hrs following complaints from members of the public and affected motorists.

Investigators further allege that the suspect coordinated illegal traders operating within Kangemi and is believed to have overseen unlawful activities targeting motorists and businesses along Waiyaki Way. Police say intelligence from members of the public also linked the network to illegal bhang trade allegedly targeting students in the area.
In a related operation, detectives arrested two additional suspects who were reportedly masquerading as avocado vendors while allegedly engaging in the sale and distribution of narcotic substances.

Court documents indicate the suspects have since been charged with possession of narcotic drugs (bhang) contrary to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act. The matter is expected to proceed before the Dagoretti Law Courts as investigations continue.

Police have assured residents that security operations in Kangemi and along Waiyaki Way will be intensified to curb criminal gangs, road obstruction, and narcotics-related activities threatening public safety.

Authorities have also urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by reporting criminal activities affecting businesses, students, residents, and motorists.

Security officials warned that public roads must remain safe for lawful movement and cautioned against acts of intimidation, violence, and destruction of property.
