Yatta MP Robert Basil Backs National Infrastructure Fund to Boost Jobs and Development
Yatta Mp Robert Basil has expressed strong support for the proposed National Infrastructure Fund, saying the initiative has the potential to unlock critical financing needed to accelerate development projects across the country.
Speaking on the proposal, the Yatta legislator said the fund will play a key role in mobilising resources for vital sectors such as roads, water and energy, which are essential for improving livelihoods and stimulating economic growth.
According to Basil, increased investment in infrastructure will not only enhance service delivery but also create employment opportunities for thousands of Kenyans, particularly young people. He noted that strategic infrastructure development remains a key driver of local and national economic transformation.
“The National Infrastructure Fund will unlock funding for roads, water, energy and other critical projects that directly improve livelihoods and create jobs,” Basil said. “We must invest boldly, but with accountability.”
The MP emphasized that while the country must scale up investment in major development projects, transparency and proper management of public resources must remain a priority to ensure the funds deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
He added that strengthening infrastructure financing mechanisms will help address development gaps while supporting sustainable economic progress in communities across Kenya.
