Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Musyoka Kawaya has expressed gratitude to the government for supporting public schools through a relief food distribution programme aimed at helping vulnerable learners stay in school.
Speaking during the distribution exercise in Mwala Constituency, the MP thanked the government led by William Samoei Ruto for what he described as a compassionate initiative that will significantly improve learning conditions for students.
Kawaya also welcomed Geoffrey Ruku, who visited the constituency to oversee the distribution of relief food to public schools.
The legislator noted that hunger has been a major challenge affecting many learners, especially in rural areas, making it difficult for them to concentrate in class.
“A hungry child cannot concentrate in class. Lack of food has been affecting attendance, concentration, and overall academic performance among learners,” Kawaya said.
He added that the school feeding programme will play a critical role in supporting vulnerable students, particularly in rural and drought-affected areas, while also easing the burden on struggling families.
According to the MP, the initiative will help keep more children in school and ensure that learning continues without interruption.
Kawaya further urged stakeholders to support programmes that enhance access to education and improve the well-being of learners across the constituency.
