Kevin Kinengo Distances Himself from ‘Wantam’ and ‘Tutam’ Politics, Says His Ideology Is Service to the People

Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo has urged leaders and residents to prioritize service delivery and development over political alignments, emphasizing that the welfare of citizens should take precedence over ideological divisions.

Speaker Kinengo stated that he does not subscribe to either the “Wantam” or “Tutam” political camps, stressing that his guiding principle is working for the people.

“I am neither in WANTAM or TUTAM political ideologies but on the ideology of working for the people,” Kinengo said.

The Speaker emphasized that leaders should shift focus from early political positioning to tangible development outcomes that improve livelihoods. He noted that citizens expect progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment rather than political rivalry.

“Our focus right now as leaders should be on working for our people; politics will come later,” he added.
Kinengo further called on residents to support leaders at both county and national levels, saying cooperation between different levels of government is essential for delivering meaningful development.

“I urge everyone to unite and support leaders from both the county and national governments so as to deliver development to our people,” he said.
His remarks come amid rising political rhetoric across the country as leaders begin early alignments ahead of future electoral contests. Kinengo’s message underscores the need for unity, collaboration, and a results-driven leadership approach aimed at improving the lives of Kitui residents.
