Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) has unveiled a sweeping portfolio of strategic partnerships ahead of the WRC Safari Rally 2026, positioning itself at the intersection of renewable energy, elite motorsport, tourism, and youth empowerment.
The landmark agreements were formalized during a high-profile signing ceremony at KenGen headquarters in Nairobi, bringing together celebrated rally drivers Azeli Ishmael and Andrew Muiruri alongside premier partners Enashipai Resort & Spa, Radio Africa Group, and Adequate Safaris.
Speaking during the ceremony, KenGen Managing Director and CEO Peter Njenga said the 2026 rally partnerships mark a significant expansion of the company’s green energy footprint across the continent and throughout the rally value chain.
“Building on the success of last year’s partnerships, our 2026 WRC collaborations span sport, luxury hospitality, adventure tourism, and multimedia amplification,” he said.
Njenga also announced KenGen’s support for Rwanda’s Queen Kalimpinya, noting that the partnership aligns with the company’s diversification agenda, particularly in advancing geothermal development and strengthening its strategic presence across Africa.
He emphasized that the Safari Rally is more than a race, describing it as a global platform showcasing Kenya’s innovation, resilience, and natural beauty.
“Today, we have deepened our commitment to this iconic event by partnering across the entire value chain — from drivers and world-class hospitality to media and immersive tourism,” he said.
KenGen noted that the partnerships are integral to its sustainability mandate and mission to accelerate Kenya’s socio-economic transformation through clean energy.
“As Africa’s leading renewable energy company, we see the Safari Rally as a powerful stage to demonstrate that sustainable power can drive not only industries, but sport, enterprise, and national pride,” Njenga added. “KenGen is not just at the heart of this global spectacle — we are helping to define it.”
A key component of the partnership portfolio is the official sponsorship of Kenyan rally drivers Azeli Ishmael and Andrew Muiruri, an investment aimed at nurturing homegrown motorsport talent and strengthening youth empowerment through sport.
KenGen also signed agreements with Enashipai Resort & Spa and Adequate Safaris to elevate rally hospitality and curate immersive tourism experiences highlighting the Rift Valley’s geothermal landscapes and spa heritage.
As the countdown to the 2026 WRC Safari Rally begins, KenGen says the partnerships signal its evolution beyond power generation into a strategic national champion driving sustainable energy, international sport, tourism development, and youth empowerment.
With geothermal steam rising from Olkaria’s fields and rally engines set to roar across the Rift Valley, KenGen is sending a clear message to the world: Kenya’s clean energy leadership is powering not only its grid, but its global stage.
