Yatta TVET Records Surge in Enrolment as Yatta MP Unveils Bursary Boost for Students

Yatta Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institute has recorded an overwhelming intake, receiving more than 200 students on the first day of admissions alone, with numbers expected to surpass 600 learners by the end of the week.

The enrolment is set to grow further as additional students join the institution through the ongoing KUCCPS replacement process, underscoring the rising demand for technical and vocational skills in the region.

Speaking during the intake exercise, the Yatta Member of Parliament hailed the strong turnout as a clear sign of growing confidence in TVET education as a pathway to employment and self-reliance. To support learners and ensure continuity of education, the MP announced that beneficiaries will receive bursaries worth KSh 10,000 each.
The students will also benefit from matching support from the KCB Foundation, a partnership that aims to ease the financial burden on families while strengthening access to quality training and promoting institutional growth.

“This support is not just about fees; it is about empowering our young people with skills that can transform their lives and our economy,” the MP said. “Education remains the strongest investment we can make in our future.”

The leadership further noted that the increased intake reflects the success of ongoing investments in training facilities, teaching staff, and industry-aligned courses at Yatta TVET. With sustained support from government and partners, the institution is positioning itself as a key hub for skills development in the region.

As hundreds of new learners settle into their courses, the message from Yatta is clear: investing in education and skills is central to building opportunities for youth and driving long-term community development.
