'Ukambani Is Not Personal Property’: Muli Signals Political Breakthrough with NLP”
By Irene Mwende
Augustus Muli has issued a bold declaration against what he described as the long-standing treatment of Ukambani as political personal property, marking a decisive moment in the region’s evolving political landscape.
“I will not watch Ukambani treated as personal property,” Muli said, accusing veteran leader Kalonzo Musyoka of missing repeated opportunities to offer a new and transformative vision. According to Muli, decades of leadership had been spent choosing comfort over meaningful change, leaving the region trapped in familiar political cycles.
Positioning himself as an alternative, Muli said his political mission is anchored in ideas rather than personalities. Through the National Liberal Party (NLP), he said, he is offering the people of Ukambani a fresh choice built on accountability, courage, and practical solutions to everyday challenges.
“Through the National Liberal Party, I am giving our people an alternative built on ideas, accountability, and courage,” Muli stated.
He added that the era of political entitlement—where leadership is assumed rather than earned—was coming to an end. Muli argued that the future of Ukambani must be shaped by open competition of ideas and leaders who remain answerable to the people.
His remarks reflect growing political restlessness in the region, particularly among voters seeking change, inclusion, and a clearer development agenda. As the 2027 political contest begins to take shape, Muli’s message signals a shift from inherited influence to contested leadership—one that could redefine Ukambani’s political direction.
