Tigania West MP John Mutunga Champions Youth Empowerment and Development Drive

By Irene Mutunga

Tigania West Constituency is set for a new wave of socio-economic transformation following a series of government-backed empowerment and development initiatives spearheaded by area Member of Parliament John Mutunga.

Speaking after the Nyota Program event held at Kinoru Stadium and presided over by His Excellency the President alongside the Deputy President, MP Mutunga lauded the government’s commitment to youth empowerment. A total of 246 youths from Tigania West benefited from the program, each receiving KSh 22,000 to support income-generating activities and promote economic independence among young people.

“The Nyota Program is more than financial support; it is an investment in the future of our youth and the prosperity of our constituency,” said Mutunga, noting that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda of inclusive growth.

Following the event, the MP proceeded to Nchiru Market where he officially handed over the ESP Market construction site to the contractor. In a consultative meeting with traders, it was agreed that they would vacate the existing structures within one week to allow for smooth commencement of construction works.

The development tour later moved to Urru, where Mutunga, accompanied by engineers from the Ministry of Housing, handed over the site for an affordable housing project. The project will comprise four G+4 blocks, delivering a total of 205 housing units. Construction is expected to begin within two weeks upon completion of the survey process.

MP Mutunga expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for his unwavering support in driving development in Tigania West and called on residents of Urru and Nchiru to cooperate fully with contractors.

“These projects will create jobs, improve livelihoods, and stimulate local economic growth. I urge residents to support their implementation for the greater good of our community,” he said.
The initiatives mark a significant step in positioning Tigania West as a hub of opportunity through youth empowerment, modern markets, and affordable housing development.
