Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Kawaya on Tuesday joined President William Samoei Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki during the official launch of the NYOTA Start-Up Capital disbursement for Machakos, Kitui and Makueni counties. The colourful ceremony was held at Machakos Kenyatta Stadium and brought together leaders, youths and other stakeholders from the region.

MP Kawaya lauded the government for prioritising youth empowerment through practical economic interventions. He noted that the NYOTA programme is a timely initiative aimed at unlocking the entrepreneurial potential of young people by providing start-up capital to support small and medium enterprises

“The NYOTA Start-Up Capital programme is designed to give our youths business opportunities, create jobs and promote financial empowerment,” said Kawaya. He added that access to affordable capital will enable many young people to turn their ideas into viable businesses, reduce unemployment and stimulate local economic growth.
President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth-led enterprises, noting that empowering the youth is key to achieving sustainable economic development. Deputy President Kindiki echoed the remarks, urging beneficiaries to use the funds responsibly to grow their businesses and create employment for others.

The NYOTA Start-Up Capital disbursement is part of the government’s broader agenda to strengthen grassroots economies and ensure that young people are actively involved in national development.
