MP Rachel Kaki and Kenya Railways MD Philip Mainga Commission RTI Kitui Campus to Empower Youth and Boost Skills Development
Kitui South took a major step toward transforming youth education and skills development as MP Rachel Kaki welcomed management from the Kenya Railways Corporation, led by Managing Director Mr. Philip J. Mainga, EBS, alongside a delegation from the Railway Training Institute (RTI), during the commissioning of the RTI Kitui Campus.
Speaking at the event, MP Rachel Kaki reaffirmed her commitment to empowering youth through skills training and access to quality education. She made a bold and transformative pledge that the first 50 students admitted to the Kitui Campus will have their tuition fees fully covered through the Kitui South NG-CDF bursary programme, ensuring financial constraints do not prevent deserving students from accessing education.
Mr. Philip Mainga praised MP Kaki for her visionary leadership and acknowledged the impressive infrastructure already established to host the institution. He highlighted that the facilities meet required standards and showcase a strong collaboration between national institutions and constituency leadership. He further assured residents that Kenya Railways Corporation is committed to fast-tracking the operationalisation of the campus, including staffing and programme rollout, to ensure learning begins promptly.
The Kitui Campus will become the fourth RTI campus, joining Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu, and will offer technical and professional training aligned with railway, transport, logistics, and engineering sectors. The campus is set to open new pathways for youth employment and skills development in the region, providing hands-on training that prepares students for the job market.
The commissioning of the RTI Kitui Campus stands as a testament to effective leadership, strategic partnerships, and a shared vision to transform Kitui South into a hub of skills, innovation, and opportunity, ensuring that young people have the tools and training to succeed.
