Under economic empowerment initiatives, a total of Ksh 4.2 million was disbursed to 46 women and youth groups through the Uwezo Fund, supporting entrepreneurship and small-scale business growth.
In the education sector, 9,062 secondary school students benefited from bursaries issued through the Kitui Central NG-CDF, easing the financial burden on families and promoting school retention.
Infrastructure development also featured prominently, with the Last Mile Electrification Project advancing in several villages in partnership with the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).
The completion and inspection of the Ikoo Drift has significantly improved accessibility, particularly during the rainy season when transport has traditionally been disrupted.
Learning environments were enhanced through the rehabilitation of four classrooms at Mikuyuni Primary School, the construction of a new classroom at Kavuvuu Primary School to address congestion, and the renovation of a dining hall and kitchen at Kitui School for the Deaf. Additionally, eight sanitation facilities were constructed at Mikuyuni Secondary School and King’oini Primary School, improving hygiene and health standards for learners.
Public service delivery and security were strengthened through the construction of Assistant Chief’s offices in Kakuuni and Kalundu, as well as the renovation of the Mulundi Police Post to enhance security services in the area.
