Brig. Hillary Kipkosgey Leads Kenya’s Charge Into the Future at 2025 Space Innovation & Investment Forum
Nairobi’s tech and scientific community converged in excitement as the 2025 Kenya Space Innovation and Investment Forum officially opened, drawing innovators, policymakers, investors, and global space experts under one roof. At the center of the event’s momentum was the Director General of the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey, whose remarks set an ambitious tone for Kenya’s future in space science and technology.
Addressing delegates during the opening session, Brig. Kipkosgey emphasized Kenya’s readiness to transition from a budding participant in global space affairs to a regional leader in satellite technology, space research, and innovation-driven investment.
“Kenya’s space sector is entering a defining moment,” he noted, highlighting the growing local talent, expanding partnerships, and strategic government support driving the sector forward. “Our goal is to position space science and technology as a key enabler of national development—enhancing agriculture, security, environmental monitoring, communication, and disaster management.”
He underscored the importance of fostering innovation among youth and startups, describing them as the engine of Africa’s next technological leap. Kipkosgey pointed to the success of recent university-led CubeSat missions, emerging drone-based Earth observation systems, and the expanding satellite data ecosystem as proof of Kenya’s untapped potential.
The forum also served as a platform for investment discussions, with Brig. Kipkosgey calling on both local and international investors to explore opportunities in satellite manufacturing, ground systems development, data applications, and space-enabled services.
“We are building an environment where innovation thrives, collaboration is encouraged, and investment is protected,” he affirmed. “This forum marks the beginning of deeper partnerships that will take Kenya’s space ambitions to the next level.”
The Kenya Space Innovation and Investment Forum 2025 is expected to spur new networks, capacity-building initiatives, and technology transfer agreements, further strengthening Kenya’s space ecosystem.
