Wanja Nyarari Blasts Ben Githae After Funeral Chaos: “Stop Showboating—Respect the Family!”

Tensions flared at the funeral of the late Betty Bayo, and in the aftermath of a viral video, security expert and influencer Wanja Nyarari has stepped forward to share her side of the story. What was meant to be a solemn farewell turned chaotic when mourners occupied seats reserved for Bayo’s immediate family, leaving her close relatives standing in confusion and distress.
Wanja, who had been tasked with ensuring order and protecting the family’s space, was seen in the viral clip firmly instructing mourners to vacate the family-designated seats. The moment quickly sparked debate online, with some accusing her of being overly harsh. But Wanja insists her actions were driven by respect for the bereaved family.
Her most pointed criticism was directed at gospel singer Ben Githae, whom she accused of fueling a misleading narrative about the confrontation. In a sharp response, she challenged him to seek facts before commenting publicly.
“Ben Githae, next time before you attack and donate your minutes, you get your facts right,” she wrote. “Family comes first no matter who, no matter what. Don’t live a life of assumptions; the guilty ones are always afraid.”
Wanja revealed that by the time she intervened, Bayo’s brothers, children, and even elders were left without seats as some mourners allegedly ignored ushers’ instructions. She described the situation as deeply “disrespectful,” noting that the very people experiencing the highest level of grief were the ones pushed to the margins.
“It was disrespectful… Your sister is lying in a coffin and you have nowhere to sit? The people carrying the deepest pain were left standing, ignored,” she said. “If the immediate family has nowhere to sit, you are not mourning; you are showboating.”
Despite the criticism leveled her way, Wanja expressed gratitude to her security team and the ushers—particularly Carol Ushers and Milly Chebby—who worked tirelessly to manage the overwhelming turnout. She added that recordings of the incident helped her counter false narratives spread online.
In her closing remarks, she reminded critics that funerals are spaces of empathy, not performance: “Who did you come to grieve with if not the family? Leave those who defied order; vengeance is God’s.”
As emotions continue to run high, Wanja’s firm stance has earned her a wave of support from netizens who applauded her for protecting the dignity and space of the grieving family.
