Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga today chaired a high-level meeting with a delegation from the DECAEXEC Consortium of the United Arab Emirates to explore strategic and institutional investment partnerships in the upcoming Nairobi Railway City project.
The discussions focused on advancing the project’s development through a phased and sustainable investment framework, with particular attention to the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) zone — one of six distinct precincts envisioned within the Railway City master plan.
Occupying 69 acres along Uhuru Highway, the MICE precinct is designed to redefine Nairobi’s skyline and establish the city as a premier hub for international business tourism. The development will be supported by an integrated rail transport network, offering seamless connectivity and convenience for both local and international visitors.
Mr. Mainga commended the DECAEXEC team for their comprehensive presentation, which emphasized sustainable urban design, economic inclusivity, and the alignment of private sector investment with national infrastructure priorities.
> “The Nairobi Railway City project represents a cornerstone of Kenya’s vision for a modern, efficient, and globally competitive capital. Strategic partnerships such as this are critical in ensuring that the project delivers not only economic returns but also meaningful social impact,” said Mr. Mainga.
The Nairobi Railway City, a flagship initiative under Kenya’s urban renewal and transport modernization agenda, has been conceptualized into six functional zones — including commercial, residential, cultural, and transport hubs — each designed to complement the city’s broader development goals.
The engagement between Kenya Railways and DECAEXEC marks a significant step toward mobilizing international investment in infrastructure that integrates transport, business, and sustainability.
Mr. Mainga reaffirmed Kenya Railways’ commitment to working with both local and international partners to deliver transformative projects that position Nairobi as a dynamic and connected urban center in Africa.
