Incoming Nairobi ODM chairlady Rosemary Okuta Graces ODM@20 Celebrations in Mombasa
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) marked its 20th anniversary with pomp and unity in Mombasa, drawing party leaders, supporters, and youth from across the country. Among the notable attendees was Rosemary Okuta, the incoming Nairobi County ODM Chairlady, whose presence symbolized the party’s renewed focus on women’s leadership and youth empowerment.
The celebrations, held under the theme “20 Years of Struggle, Unity, and Progress,” brought together thousands of ODM supporters to reflect on the party’s legacy and chart the way forward ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the event, Rosemary Okuta reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening ODM’s grassroots networks in Nairobi and championing inclusion within the party.
> “ODM has stood for democracy, justice, and the voice of ordinary Kenyans for two decades,” Okuta said. “As we celebrate 20 years, it’s time to build on that legacy by empowering women and young people to take their rightful place in leadership.”
Party leaders praised ODM’s resilience as one of Kenya’s longest-standing political movements and emphasized the need for unity as the party positions itself for the future.
Rosemary Okuta’s rising profile within the party has been met with enthusiasm from ODM’s Nairobi delegates, who see her leadership as a fresh step toward rejuvenating the capital’s political base and ensuring the party remains rooted in the people’s struggles.
The Mombasa celebrations featured cultural performances, speeches from party veterans, and tributes to ODM’s founding members, underscoring two decades of political influence and reform advocacy.
> “This celebration is not just about our past — it’s about the next chapter,” Okuta added. “ODM’s next 20 years must belong to the people, powered by new energy and inclusive leadership.”
