Nairobi MCAs Slam Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for ‘Double Speak and Bitterness’

Nairobi City County MCAs have issued a strongly worded statement accusing impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of hypocrisy, double standards, and bitterness in his recent political remarks.

Speaking in Nairobi, the MCAs said Mr. Gachagua has perfected the art of double speak, noting that what he said during campaigns and while in power sharply contradicts what he is now preaching in opposition.

“When he was in power, he dismissed former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Today, he suddenly calls Uhuru the kingpin of Central Kenya. This is not leadership, it is survival politics,” the statement read in part.
The ward leaders accused Gachagua of failing to serve Kenyans when he had the opportunity, choosing instead to push divisive ethnic politics and succession debates rather than service delivery.

“Now that he is out of power, he pretends to be the voice of reason. The issues he talks about today, he knew as an insider. If they were wrong, why did he not speak then? Why now, when he has fallen out of favour? That is not integrity, that is hypocrisy,” they said.

The MCAs reaffirmed their unwavering support for President William Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga in their efforts to unite the country through the broad-based government. They said Kenya has achieved global recognition and continental respect because of unity, warning that the politics of betrayal and bitterness should not be allowed to derail progress.
They further urged President Ruto not to be distracted by opposition noise, noting that Kenyans are more concerned with jobs, affordable healthcare, housing, and food security.

“The youth of Kenya need jobs and opportunities. The women and men need decent homes. The sick need proper and affordable medical attention. Kenyans need food on their tables,” the MCAs said, adding that Gachagua’s recent remarks made in vernacular abroad were an insult to the aspirations of Kenyans.

They concluded by calling on all leaders to put Kenya first and support the President’s agenda:
“Kenya is greater than individuals. Kenya is greater than short-term politics. Kenya is greater than Rigathi Gachagua’s bitterness.”
