Hon. (Dr.) Makali Mulu, CBS, and incoming governor of Kitui County 2027, today spearheaded the distribution of Ksh 4.2 million in Uwezo Fund cheques to 46 women, youth, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) groups at the Kitui Central Constituency office.

The funding aims to empower beneficiaries to start or expand income-generating activities, enhancing their capacity to create sustainable livelihoods.

Dr. Mulu lauded the resilience and innovation shown by community groups and underscored the government’s commitment to economic inclusion.
“This is more than just financial support — it’s an investment in the dreams and potential of our people,” he said, urging beneficiaries to use the funds prudently to transform their lives and communities.

The Uwezo Fund is a national government initiative designed to provide accessible and interest-free credit to women, youth, and PWDs, fostering entrepreneurship and self-reliance at the grassroots.

With today’s disbursement, hundreds of residents in Kitui Central are expected to benefit directly and indirectly through new business opportunities and job creation.
