Yatta MP Robert Basil Hosts CS Salim Mvurya for Official Handover of Proposed Yatta Sports Academy Site

Yatta Member of Parliament Hon. Robert Basil on Monday hosted a high-profile delegation for the official site handover of the transformative Yatta Sports Academy. The event, which marked a significant milestone for the region, was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Sports Hon. Salim Mvurya, Principal Secretary Hon. Elijah Mwangi, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wa (MP Kikuyu), and Hon. Caroli Omondi (MP Suba South).

Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Basil described the upcoming facility as a beacon of hope for the youth of Yatta and beyond
"This project is a game changer for our youth — a hub where talent will be nurtured, dreams will be built, and champions will rise,” he passionately stated.

Hon. Basil emphasized that their mission goes beyond erecting physical structures; it is about creating lasting opportunities that will uplift countless young people.

“We are committed to building not just infrastructure, but opportunities,” he affirmed.

The Yatta Sports Academy is expected to provide modern training facilities, mentorship programs, and a nurturing environment for budding athletes. The leaders present commended the initiative, noting it would play a critical role in unlocking the vast sporting potential of the region.

As the project breaks ground, there is renewed optimism among residents that Yatta will soon become a breeding ground for sporting excellence, fostering unity, discipline, and prosperity through sports.
