Cabinet Secretary Eric Mugaa Leads High-Level Inspection of Water Projects in Samburu

Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, Eric Mugaa, on Thursday led a high-level delegation to inspect ongoing water projects in Samburu County. The visit underscored the government's commitment to addressing water scarcity in the region and fostering sustainable development.
CS Mugaa was joined by Samburu Deputy Governor H.E Gabriel Lenengwesi, County Commissioner John Cheruiyot, Samburu West MP Hon. Naisula Lesuuda, and key stakeholders, including the Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA) Board Chair and CEO. Also present were Samburu Water and Sewerage Company (SAWASCO) board Chair and Managing Director, alongside other area leaders.
The team visited several critical project sites aimed at improving water access for the county’s residents. These projects, managed by NWWDA and SAWASCO, are expected to significantly reduce water shortages and improve sanitation for households, schools, and businesses in Samburu.
In his remarks, CS Mugaa highlighted the importance of collaboration between national and county governments to ensure timely delivery and sustainable management of water resources. “Water is a lifeline for our communities. We are here to assess progress and ensure these projects are completed efficiently and benefit the people of Samburu,” he stated.
Deputy Governor Lenengwesi reiterated the county's support for the projects, emphasizing their potential to transform livelihoods by enhancing access to clean water for both human consumption and livestock.
Hon. Naisula Lesuuda called for continued prioritization of water infrastructure in the region, stressing that water availability is key to addressing poverty and enhancing the region's economic potential.
The leaders also engaged with local communities, assuring them of the government’s dedication to completing the projects. This inspection reflects a shared vision of tackling water challenges and empowering communities through sustainable solutions.
