Gathoni Wamuchomba Quits UDA, to Defend Githunguri Seat on New Party Ticket

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has officially quit the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), announcing that she will seek to defend her parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election on a different party ticket.

Speaking during a press conference at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, Wamuchomba said she will not align herself with UDA or the Kenya Kwanza administration in the next election. She said she will first consult her constituents before revealing the political party she will use to seek another term in Githunguri.

The MP cited concerns over what she described as discrimination, tribal attacks and selective application of justice as among the reasons behind her decision. Wamuchomba, who was elected Githunguri MP on a UDA ticket in 2022, said her next political move would be guided by the views of the people she represents.
