STANDARD CHARTERED NAIROBI MARATHON SECURES RECORD KES 273M SPONSORSHIP AHEAD OF 23RD EDITION

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has secured a record KES 273 million in combined sponsorship and support ahead of its 23rd edition scheduled for October 25, 2026.

Standard Chartered has committed KES 130 million, while other sponsors have contributed KES 143 million in cash and in-kind support. The event has attracted 56 sponsors, up from 43 last year, representing a 30 percent increase, while the total sponsorship value is 17 percent higher than the KES 233 million raised in 2025. More than 30,000 runners from 102 nationalities, including over 400 elite athletes, are expected to take part.

The increased sponsorship is expected to strengthen key areas of the marathon, including runner safety, nutrition and hydration, technology, transport and logistics, while also expanding its community impact. Key sponsors include Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL), Tetra Pak, Healthy U, ORS, Little Limited, Rohto, Blue Band, Unicaf, Reload and Coca-Cola, with Nike and Spiro joining as new apparel and entertainment sponsors.

David Mwindi, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, said the record investment demonstrates the commitment of Standard Chartered and its partners to delivering a world-class marathon with lasting impact. The race will start and finish at Uhuru Gardens and will feature the 42km Full Marathon, 21km Half Marathon, 10km Road Race, 21km Wheelchair Race, 5km Family Fun Run and CEO Challenge, with the route running along the Southern Bypass.
