Kawaya Launches Yathui Borehole Project, Vows to Address Years of Water Scarcity and Marginalisation

 Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka Kawaya has launched the drilling of a community borehole at Yathui Chief’s Camp in Wamunyu Ward, describing the project as a major step towards addressing years of neglect and marginalisation in the area.

Kawaya said the project would help tackle the longstanding challenge of unreliable access to clean and safe water, which has affected the health, sanitation and economic wellbeing of residents.

According to the MP, Yathui has for years been left behind in development, denying residents access to basic services that are critical to improving their quality of life


He said the borehole project marks a deliberate effort to correct the historical neglect and ensure residents benefit from development programmes.

The MP noted that reliable access to water would not only improve household health and sanitation but also create opportunities for economic activities and enhance the overall wellbeing of the community.

“Today, we take a decisive step towards rectifying the past and ensuring a brighter and more equitable future for all,” Kawaya said.
He added that addressing water challenges remains essential in unlocking the development potential of Yathui and surrounding communities.

The launch of the borehole drilling marks a significant milestone in efforts to improve access to essential services in Wamunyu Ward, with residents expected to benefit from a more reliable source of clean water once the project is completed.
