Mwala MP and UDA National Organising Secretary Vincent Musyoka Kawaya has called on former President Uhuru Kenyatta to stay out of the 2027 electoral contest and allow President William Ruto to focus on serving Kenyans.

Kawaya questioned Uhuru’s influence in the opposition, arguing that the former President did not secure victory for Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election despite being in office at the time. His remarks come amid renewed political exchanges between Ruto allies and Uhuru as opposition leaders organise ahead of the 2027 General Election. 

Kawaya said Kenyans should focus on issue-based politics and development rather than revisiting disputed narratives surrounding previous elections. He urged political leaders to present clear policies and solutions to the challenges facing citizens as the country prepares for the next election.
