As more Kenyan households turn to borehole water, Pureflex Water Solutions is promoting undersink Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultrafiltration systems as a targeted solution for homes experiencing salty tastes, high mineral content and stubborn scale on kitchen appliances.

While borehole water may appear clear, dissolved minerals such as calcium, magnesium and sodium can affect its taste and contribute to scaling in kettles, coffee makers and cookware. Pureflex says its point-of-use systems are designed to treat water specifically for drinking, cooking and other kitchen needs, providing an alternative to treating an entire household water supply or relying heavily on bottled water.

The company is targeting both homeowners and tenants, particularly those living in apartments supplied by shared borehole systems. According to Pureflex, its compact undersink systems can be installed beneath the kitchen counter while using reverse osmosis technology to reduce dissolved salts and other contaminants. The company says the approach can help households access purified drinking water directly from the kitchen tap while reducing bottled-water purchases and plastic waste.
