ASNET Chairman Dr Bimal Kantaria Calls for Stronger Government-Private Sector Collaboration to Transform Kenya’s Agribusiness

 Dr Bimal Kantaria, Chairman of ASNET, has called for stronger collaboration between government, the private sector and development partners to accelerate the transformation of Kenya’s agricultural sector and unlock its potential for prosperity.

Speaking during the 6th National Agribusiness Summit, Dr Kantaria said bringing key stakeholders together provides an important platform for aligning priorities, strengthening partnerships and developing practical solutions for the agriculture sector.

Kantaria said the private sector has an important role to play in driving investment, innovation and growth across Kenya’s agricultural value chains, while government provides the policy and regulatory environment necessary for businesses to thrive.

He emphasized the importance of continued engagement between the two sectors, noting that effective collaboration has already contributed to positive developments within the agricultural sector.

The ASNET chairman also acknowledged the contribution of development partners in supporting agribusiness initiatives, capacity building and private-sector development in Kenya.

He expressed appreciation to organisations and partners that have continued to support the sector and bring stakeholders together to address challenges affecting farmers, businesses and other players across the agricultural value chain.

Kantaria further recognized the contribution of industry associations and private-sector leaders in advancing Kenya’s agricultural agenda, saying their efforts have helped strengthen engagement between businesses and government.

The summit, which brings together government officials, private-sector players, development partners, farmers and other stakeholders, is focused on exploring ways of strengthening agribusiness, improving agricultural productivity and creating opportunities across the food value chain.

He also highlighted the importance of recognizing outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector, noting that the summit will culminate in an Agriculture Awards ceremony to celebrate individuals and organisations making a difference in the sector.

Kantaria urged stakeholders to use the summit to build stronger partnerships and develop actionable strategies that can move Kenya’s agriculture from discussions to implementation.

He said sustained collaboration, investment and innovation will be critical in unlocking the full potential of agriculture and turning the sector into a stronger driver of economic growth and prosperity.

The 6th National Agribusiness Summit is being held alongside broader industry engagements bringing together stakeholders to discuss the future of Kenya’s food and agriculture sector.
