Ndindi Nyoro Dumps UDA, Joins Opposition Ahead of 2027 Elections

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has formally severed ties with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Nyoro made the announcement on Monday at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, where he declared that he and his supporters had joined the People’s Party of Kenya.

The lawmaker said the decision followed nearly a year of consultations and introspection, during which he held discussions with several opposition leaders and senior political figures.

Among those he consulted were former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, former Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya and Fred Matiang’i, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Siaya Governor James Orengo.

Nyoro said the move was informed by extensive consultations on the country’s political direction and the need to chart a new path ahead of the 2027 elections.

His decision marks a major shift in his political alignment and is expected to reshape political dynamics in Murang’a County and the wider Mt Kenya region as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the next General Election.
