Kalonzo Musyoka Condemns Alleged Land Grab, Illegal Evictions in Jipe/Mwakoshemi

WIPER Patriotic Front (WPF) party leader  Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned what he termed the illegal eviction and land grabbing of residents of Jipe/Mwakoshemi Village in Taita Taveta County.

Speaking during a visit to the area on August 28, 2026, Musyoka accused the government of abusing state power, alleging that private land belonging to residents had been forcefully taken and families evicted from their homes during the night by police officers.

Musyoka said hundreds of residents, including women, persons with disabilities and children, were now living in makeshift shelters without adequate food and water. He further claimed that land hosting local schools had also been affected, denying children access to education. 

He said the alleged actions amounted to violations of Articles 40 and 43 of the Constitution, which protect the right to property and access to essential services including education.

Musyoka said he had instructed the Leader of the Minority in the National Assembly, Kathi ani MP Robert Mbui, to raise the matter in Parliament without delay.

He also said his legal team, led by WPF spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru, would move to court to pursue contempt proceedings against the Registrar of Lands over alleged failure to cancel what he described as fraudulently obtained titles despite existing court orders. 

“No official of this regime is above the law,” Musyoka said, warning that those involved in the alleged land acquisition and evictions would be held accountable.

He assured the affected families that he would continue pursuing the matter until justice was served and the families were resettled on what he described as their rightful land. 

Musyoka was accompanied by several leaders from the United Alternative Government-in-Waiting, including former Attorney General Justin Muturi, former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako, Voi MP Ali Chombe, WPF Chairman Jamleck Kamau and Aisha Jumwa.
