Wanja Rose Champions 'Run to Raise a Future' as East Africa's First Edition Marathon Raises Hope for Needy University Students

Education advocate and Chair of Albury Institute, Wanja Rose, has reaffirmed her commitment to expanding access to higher education after attending the launch of the East Africa First Edition Marathon, held under the theme "Run to Raise a Future."

The marathon, featuring 21km, 10km, and 5km races, aims to raise funds to support less fortunate university students across East Africa, ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent deserving young people from pursuing higher education.

Speaking during the event, Wanja Rose expressed pride that Albury Institute was among the sponsors of the initiative, describing the marathon as a powerful platform for transforming lives through education.

She also applauded the institute's students and lecturers for participating enthusiastically and representing Albury Institute with distinction. Several participants secured places among the top 10 finishers in the highly competitive 21km race, while others delivered impressive performances in the 10km and 5km categories.
Wanja Rose congratulated all the participants for their determination and dedication, saying their achievements reflected the institution's commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

She further praised Prof. Badru Ndungu Kateregga, Vice Chancellor of Kampala University and Founder and Chairman of The East African University, for serving as the Chief Sponsor of the marathon and for his unwavering commitment to transforming lives through education. She also commended Prof. Dr. Chris Mutembei for his vision and leadership in organizing the impactful event.

Describing the initiative as more than just a sporting competition, Wanja Rose said the "Run to Raise a Future" marathon represents a call to action for individuals and institutions to invest in the dreams of young people.
"Every step taken today brings hope to a deserving student and helps build a stronger, better-educated East Africa," she said.
