Rose Wanja Expresses Her Thanksgiving Birthday by Clearing KSh67,000 College Fees for Needy Medical Engineering Student

Rose Wanja has expressed  her thanksgiving birthday by paying the outstanding KSh67,000 college fees of a needy student, giving him a second chance to pursue his dream of becoming a Medical Engineering professional.

She was touched by the story of Auris Kuria Wanjiku, a student at Kabete National Polytechnic and the son of a single mother from Naivasha. To help raise money for his school fees, Auris had taken up casual construction work (mjengo) at one of Wanja's project sites

According to Wanja, the site's engineer, Eng. Mungai Muratha, informed her that the student had been unable to sit for his examinations this semester because he could not raise the required school fees.

"My heart sank. Dear Lord, when will poverty end? Or is it a burden that will always live among us?" Wanja said.

Instead of celebrating her birthday with a party, Wanja said she chose to express gratitude to God by changing the life of a deserving young person.

"As my thanksgiving for my birthday, I have decided to clear this young man's outstanding school fees so that he can complete his studies and graduate as a Medical Engineering student. There is no better way to celebrate life than by giving someone else a chance to change theirs," she said.

Wanja noted that she has a deep passion for mentoring and supporting young men, especially through her role as Patron of the Boy Child under the ACK Diocese of Mt. Kenya South.

She said empowering hardworking youth through education is one of the most meaningful investments society can make.

"I believe that if we can save one young man today, he will grow up to save many others tomorrow," she said.

Wanja encouraged young people facing financial and social challenges not to give up on their dreams, expressing hope that more leaders and well-wishers will support students struggling to complete their education.

She concluded by praying for God's blessings upon young people who continue to persevere despite difficult circumstances, saying acts of compassion and service leave a lasting legacy in society.
