PS Public Service Dr. Jane Imbunya Calls for Ethical, Citizen-Centred Leadership as KSG Marks 100 Years

Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya has called for the continued development of ethical, innovative and citizen-centred leaders as the Kenya School of Government (KSG) celebrated its centenary at its Lower Kabete campus.

Speaking during the KSG@100 celebrations and the institution's 7th graduation ceremony, Dr. Imbunya described the occasion as both historic and deeply personal, saying KSG had played a significant role in shaping Kenya's public service over the past century.

"At KSG, history did not sit quietly in a dusty cabinet. It walked across the graduation stage and challenged us to build the next century. I call KSG one of my children, so this milestone felt personal," she said.
The event, presided over by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku, also featured the launch of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga Regional Leadership and Governance Academy, which is expected to strengthen leadership and governance training in Kenya and across the region.

Dr. Imbunya congratulated Director General Prof. Nura Mohamed, the KSG Council, pioneers, staff, development partners and the graduating class for their contribution to the institution's century-long legacy of excellence in public service training.

She reminded the graduates that education should be used to transform society through dedicated service, urging them to uphold integrity and professionalism in their careers.

"Education is not a medal. It is a lamp we carry into dark rooms so others can see a way forward," she said.

Looking ahead, the Principal Secretary emphasized that KSG must remain committed to producing ethical and innovative public servants capable of responding to the changing needs of citizens.

She said that under the leadership of President William Ruto, the public service is focused on translating knowledge into quality service delivery, impactful governance and hope for all Kenyans.

The centenary celebrations brought together senior government officials, public servants, development partners, alumni and other stakeholders to commemorate 100 years of KSG's contribution to leadership development, governance and public sector excellence.
