Kisumu Deputy Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Accessible Cancer Care at Launch of ACF Clinic on Wheels

Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Matthew Owili has reaffirmed the county government's commitment to strengthening healthcare services following the official launch and commissioning of the Africa Cancer Foundation (ACF) Clinic on Wheels at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).

The Deputy Governor joined Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o at the launch of the mobile clinic, describing the initiative as a major milestone in expanding access to cancer prevention, early detection, screening and treatment services for residents of Kisumu, Siaya and neighbouring counties.

Dr. Owili noted that the mobile clinic will help bridge healthcare gaps by bringing essential cancer services closer to communities, improving early diagnosis and increasing access to life-saving treatment.

The event was attended by Mama Kisumu, Mrs. Dorothy Nyong'o, National Cancer Control Program representative Dr. J.P. Bor, JOOTRH Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joshua Okise, County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation Dr. Gregory Ganda, Kisumu City Manager Mr. Abala Wanga, alongside other healthcare professionals, partners and stakeholders dedicated to improving cancer care in the region.
The Deputy Governor emphasized that the County Government of Kisumu remains committed to working closely with healthcare partners and development organizations to strengthen the health system and ensure quality, affordable and accessible cancer services reach every resident.

He said the launch of the ACF Clinic on Wheels reflects the county's continued efforts to enhance healthcare delivery, reduce the burden of cancer through early detection and improve health outcomes for communities across the region.

Dr. Owili also commended the Africa Cancer Foundation and all partners involved in the initiative, expressing confidence that the mobile clinic will play a vital role in saving lives and promoting equitable access to specialized healthcare services.
