Kenya Youth Organization Mourns Cecil Ouma, Calls for Independent Investigation and Justice
The Kenya Youth Organization (KYO) has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Cecil Ouma, urging authorities to conduct a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In an official statement, KYO extended its heartfelt condolences to Ouma's family, relatives, friends, and all Kenyans mourning his loss. The organization emphasized the need for justice, stating that investigations must establish the facts, uphold the rule of law, and ensure accountability for anyone found responsible.
KYO acknowledged that the Principal Secretary, Fikirini Jacobs, together with officers who were reportedly present in the vehicle at the time of the incident, had recorded statements with investigators. The organization welcomed their commitment to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations.
The youth organization appealed to the public, especially young people, to remain calm, patient, and peaceful while allowing investigative agencies to carry out their work without interference or speculation.
As the lead host of the National Youth Council Kikao Initiative, KYO also expressed hope that leaders and institutions would continue to show solidarity with the family during this difficult period, noting that compassion and empathy are essential in fostering public confidence.
KYO further called on all state institutions to ensure justice is pursued impartially and in accordance with the law. It urged leaders, civil society, and all Kenyans to promote peace, unity, respect for human life, and zero tolerance for political violence and abuse of power.
The organization concluded by praying for the eternal repose of Cecil Ouma's soul and for strength and comfort for his family during their time of grief.
