Albury Institute Chair Rose Wanja Champions 'Run to Raise a Future' Marathon to Expand Access to Higher Education in East Africa

Rose Wanja, the Chair of Albury Institute, joined education leaders, students, and stakeholders at the launch of the East Africa First Edition Marathon, held under the theme "Run to Raise a Future," an initiative aimed at raising funds for less fortunate university students across East Africa.

The marathon featured 21km, 10km, and 5km races, with proceeds set to support students facing financial challenges, helping ensure that lack of resources does not deny them the opportunity to pursue higher education.

As one of the event's sponsors, Albury Institute played a key role in supporting the initiative. Rose Wanja expressed pride in the institution's contribution and applauded its students and lecturers for participating with determination and excellence.
She noted that several Albury Institute participants finished among the top 10 in the 21km race, while others delivered impressive performances in the 10km and 5km categories, reflecting the institution's commitment to excellence both in academics and extracurricular activities.

Rose Wanja congratulated all participants for making the institute proud and demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and dedication throughout the competition.

She also conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to Prof. Badru Ndungu Kateregga, Vice Chancellor of Kampala University and Founder and Chairman of The East African University, for serving as the Chief Sponsor and for his unwavering commitment to transforming lives through education. She further commended Prof. Dr. Chris Mutembei for his vision and leadership in organizing the inaugural marathon.
Describing the event as more than just a sporting competition, Rose Wanja said "Run to Raise a Future" is a powerful call to action that unites institutions, leaders, and communities in supporting education across the region.

She emphasized that every step taken during the marathon represents hope for a deserving student and contributes to building a stronger, more educated, and prosperous East Africa.
