Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya Joins Machakos MP and Area Leaders for Makaveti-Iiyuni Road Upgrade Launch


Residents of Kalama Sub-county are set to benefit from improved road infrastructure following the official handover of the Makaveti-Iiyuni Road project to a contractor for upgrading to bitumen standards.

Mwala Member of Parliament Vincent Kawaya joined Machakos Member of Parliament and other local leaders in Makaveti, Kalama Sub-county, during the site handover ceremony, marking the beginning of the much-awaited road improvement project.

Speaking during the event, the leaders described the road upgrade as a major milestone that will enhance connectivity, ease transportation, and spur economic growth in the area.
MP Vincent Kawaya noted that improved road infrastructure is essential in opening up rural areas, facilitating trade, and improving access to schools, health facilities, and markets. He said the project demonstrates the government's commitment to improving the livelihoods of residents through strategic infrastructure development.

The leaders urged the contractor to ensure quality work and complete the project within the agreed timelines so that residents can begin enjoying the benefits of the upgraded road.

Residents welcomed the project, expressing optimism that the tarmacking of the Makaveti-Iiyuni Road will reduce transport costs, improve accessibility during rainy seasons, and create business opportunities along the corridor.

The road upgrade is expected to boost economic activities in Kalama Sub-county by improving the movement of people, goods, and services while enhancing regional connectivity.

Local leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting development projects aimed at transforming the area and improving the quality of life for residents.
