Dr. Norman Kiogora Reaffirms KISE Commitment to Disability Inclusion at Murang’a County Disability Day

The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), alongside caregivers, disability stakeholders, and persons with disabilities, joined the County Government of Murang’a in commemorating Murang’a County Disability Day in Maragua Sub-County, reaffirming efforts to promote inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for all.

The event brought together leaders, service providers, caregivers, and advocates committed to strengthening support systems for persons with disabilities while advancing awareness on disability rights and inclusion in society.

KISE Director General Dr. Norman Kiogora, who attended the event, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to ensuring persons with disabilities receive the necessary assessment, intervention, and support services needed to thrive.

Speaking during the celebration, Dr. Kiogora emphasized that disability inclusion requires collective action from institutions, communities, families, and policymakers to guarantee equal opportunities and dignity for all persons living with disabilities.
“As an institution, we remain fully committed to our mandate of assessing children with disabilities and providing the necessary support, guidance, and intervention services to help them achieve their full potential. Inclusion begins when we work together to ensure every child and every person with a disability is given an equal opportunity to thrive,” he said.

He lauded the growing collaboration between stakeholders and county governments in championing disability rights, noting that partnerships play a critical role in improving access to services and enhancing the well-being of persons with disabilities.

Dr. Kiogora further expressed appreciation to the County Government of Murang’a for organizing the event and creating a platform that promotes awareness, solidarity, and practical support for persons with disabilities.

KISE also commended Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata and the First Lady of Murang’a County for spearheading an initiative that aligns closely with the institution’s mission of promoting inclusive education, care, and support systems.
During the event, KISE offered assessment and support services to residents, underscoring the institution’s commitment to taking essential services closer to communities and ensuring children with disabilities receive timely interventions.

The institute said it remains encouraged by the unity shown by stakeholders, caregivers, and government agencies in advocating for disability inclusion and pledged to continue championing the rights, dignity, care, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

Murang’a County Disability Day served as both a celebration and a call to action, reinforcing the message that inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunity must remain central to Kenya’s development agenda.
