Incoming Kitui Governor Makali Mulu Launches Major Rehabilitation Projects for Special Needs Schools in Kitui Central

Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu has today spearheaded the launch of key rehabilitation projects targeting special needs education institutions in Township Ward, Kitui Central Constituency, as part of his broader agenda to strengthen inclusive learning and improve education infrastructure in Kitui County.

At the Kitui School for the Mentally Handicapped, Dr. Mulu commissioned extensive rehabilitation works that include the refurbishment of 13 classrooms, two dormitories, and a vocational workshop. The upgrades are expected to significantly enhance both academic learning and practical skills training for learners with special needs.
He later proceeded to the Kitui School for the Deaf, where he launched a modern kitchen facility alongside an upgraded equipment system aimed at improving student nutrition, food preparation standards, and overall welfare.

Dr. Mulu emphasized that inclusive development remains a central pillar of his leadership, noting that every child deserves access to dignified, safe, and well-equipped learning environments regardless of their abilities.
The initiatives were warmly welcomed by teachers, parents, and community members, who described the projects as a major milestone in addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps in special needs education within the county.
