The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced it is fully prepared to conduct its Repeat Phase II Grassroots Elections, scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026, in a major exercise expected to shape the party’s grassroots leadership nationwide.

In a media briefing issued by the Office of the Secretary General, the party confirmed that the elections will be held across 18 counties, including Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Kisii, Bungoma, Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Isiolo, Marsabit, Taita Taveta, Lamu, Tana River, Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, and Turkana. Meanwhile, Kajiado County will conduct its elections separately on Saturday, April 25.
The exercise has attracted overwhelming interest, with over 450,000 candidates registering to vie for 20 different positions at polling centres. These positions represent a wide cross-section of society, including women, youth, persons with special interests, farmers, religious groups, professionals, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

UDA projects that approximately 8 million voters will participate in the elections, which will be conducted in more than 9,117 polling centres across the targeted counties. The large turnout underscores the party’s growing grassroots mobilization and its commitment to inclusive political participation.

The party also highlighted its successful track record, noting that it has already conducted grassroots elections in 25 counties, producing over 235,000 officials so far.

To ensure transparency and efficiency, UDA will deploy end-to-end technology in the voting process. A total of 9,500 electronic voting tablets have been distributed to polling centres, and results will be made publicly accessible through the party’s official website.

Voting is set to begin at 8:00 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM, with the process expected to yield 182,240 elected grassroots officials who will carry a direct mandate from party members.

The Repeat Phase II exercise marks a critical step in strengthening UDA’s internal structures, as the party continues to position itself as a dominant political force driven by grassroots empowerment and democratic participation.
