Thunanira Rallies Isiolo Residents to Reject Broken Promises and Demand Real Change
By Irene Mwende
Isiolo leader Mwenda Thunanira has issued a strong and emotional call for change, urging residents to rise against years of unfulfilled promises, poor leadership, and systemic neglect that continues to hold the county back.
Speaking during a church service at Overcomers Grace Ministry headquarters in Mwangaza, hosted by Bishop Charles Mwenda, Thunanira expressed deep concern over the persistent challenges facing the people of Isiolo. He noted that despite repeated assurances from political leaders, critical issues such as land ownership remain unresolved, leaving many families in Wabera Ward and Bulapesa living in uncertainty on land they have occupied for decades.
Thunanira lamented that the lack of title deeds has not only denied residents security but has also hindered development and economic empowerment. He criticized leaders for issuing empty promises while failing to take meaningful action to resolve long-standing land disputes.
The leader also highlighted the worsening crisis of youth unemployment, describing it as a ticking time bomb. He pointed out that young people in Isiolo are full of potential, talent, and ambition, yet continue to be ignored by those in power who have failed to create opportunities or implement sustainable empowerment programs.
In his remarks, Thunanira did not shy away from calling out what he described as “political brokers” — individuals who exploit election periods to negotiate personal benefits while abandoning the very communities they claim to represent. He accused them of colluding with corrupt leaders, perpetuating a cycle of poverty and hopelessness among ordinary wananchi.
“To those benefiting from this broken system, the people of Isiolo are tired,” he declared. “They are tired of incompetence, betrayal, and corruption. The time for change is now.”
Thunanira revealed that he is actively engaging with like-minded leaders who are committed to transforming Isiolo and restoring hope to its people. He emphasized the need for accountable, people-centered leadership that prioritizes service delivery, transparency, and the welfare of citizens.
As Isiolo continues to grapple with long-standing socio-economic challenges, Thunanira’s message signals a growing wave of political awakening, with residents increasingly demanding leaders who will deliver tangible results rather than empty rhetoric.
