Senator Agnes Kavindu Urges Interior CS Murkomen to Boost Security in Matungulu After Brutal Killing

Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu Muthama has called on Interior Cabinet Secretary Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen to urgently strengthen security operations in Matungulu following rising cases of insecurity and violent crime in the area.

Speaking at Itetani village in Matungulu during the burial of Oliver Nzuki, who was recently murdered by unknown assailants, Kavindu expressed deep concern over what she described as a worrying surge in criminal activities in the region.

The Senator noted that residents of Matungulu are living in fear due to frequent attacks, accusing security agencies of failing to respond adequately to distress calls. She emphasized that some areas lack sufficient police patrols, leaving communities vulnerable to criminals.

Kavindu urged the national government to deploy more police officers, improve patrol mechanisms, and ensure local security teams are fully equipped to handle emerging threats. She stressed that restoring safety in Matungulu should be treated as a matter of urgency to protect lives and property.

“The people of Matungulu deserve to feel safe in their homes. We cannot continue losing innocent lives due to insecurity,” she said.

Her remarks come amid growing public outcry over insecurity in parts of Machakos County, with leaders now piling pressure on the Interior Ministry to act swiftly and decisively.
