Mtetezi Group Condemns Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi Over Alleged Use of Goons as Francis Awino Warns of Tuesday Protests

The Mtetezi Group has strongly condemned Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi over allegations that he deployed goons to attack activist Francis Awino.
According to the group, the alleged attack followed Awino’s public call for the CS to resign over what he described as a massive energy sector fraud that has reportedly cost the country billions of shillings. The group termed the incident as “intimidation tactics” aimed at silencing critics demanding accountability.
Speaking after the incident, Awino issued a strong warning, vowing that Kenyans will not be cowed by threats or violence. He announced that protests will be held on Tuesday to demand transparency and justice in the energy sector.
“We cannot allow corruption of this magnitude to continue unchecked. The people will speak, and they will do so peacefully but firmly,” Awino stated.
Mtetezi Group has now called on relevant authorities to investigate the claims and ensure those responsible are held accountable. They also urged security agencies to guarantee the safety of citizens ahead of the planned demonstrations.
The unfolding situation sets the stage for heightened political tension as pressure mounts on the Energy Ministry over the alleged scandal.
