UDA Issues Nomination Certificates to Candidates Ahead of May 14 Polls

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially kicked off its preparations for the upcoming by-elections slated for May 14, 2026, with the issuance of nomination certificates to its candidates in a ceremony held at the Party Headquarters, Hustler Plaza in Nairobi.
The exercise was presided over by UDA Secretary General, Senator Hassan Omar Hassan, who handed over certificates to three candidates set to fly the party’s flag in the mini-polls. Among them is Hon. David Kipsang Keter, who will contest for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat. Others include Hon. Daniel Lolngojine for the Poro Ward seat in Samburu County, and Hon. Festus Korir Kirop for the Endo Ward position in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
While presenting the certificates, Senator Hassan Omar expressed confidence in the candidates, describing them as capable leaders committed to advancing the party’s agenda and securing victory. He emphasized that UDA remains focused on building on its recent successes in by-elections across the country, noting that the party machinery is fully mobilized to ensure another strong performance.
“The party is confident in your leadership and your ability to connect with the electorate. We expect nothing less than victory,” Hassan stated.
The Chairperson of the National Elections Board (NEB), Anthony Mwaura, also reiterated the party’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and verifiable nominations, underscoring the role of technology in enhancing transparency and efficiency in the process.
The event attracted a host of senior party officials, including Uasin Gishu Senator Hon. Jackson Mandago, UDA Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, Deputy Executive Director Higgins Mbugua, Director of Women Affairs Margaret Ndanyi, Director of Membership Grace Gicovi, and Director of Communication Nathaniel Mong’are. Members of the National Elections Board and other party stakeholders were also in attendance.
As the countdown to the by-elections begins, UDA leaders expressed optimism that the party’s candidates will secure decisive wins, further strengthening its political foothold across key regions.
