New Methodist Bishop Calls for Unity and Renewal as Kenya Church Enters New Era

At the close of the 60th Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Kenya, newly elected Presiding Bishop Rev. Dr. Maromba delivered a passionate call for unity, reconciliation, and national renewal. Standing before delegates, clergy, partners, and media representatives, he declared that a divided chapter of the church’s history had ended and that a new season of liberty and purpose had begun.

Rev. Dr. Maromba pledged to rebuild trust within the denomination, strengthen governance structures, and restore a spirit of shared mission among members. His message emphasized healing over conflict and cooperation over division, signaling a shift toward stability and accountability.

He also underscored the essential role of the media in shaping the nation’s democratic culture, urging journalists to uphold truth, responsibility, and peace-building. The church, he affirmed, remained committed to working with government institutions, ecumenical bodies, and development organizations through its extensive network of hospitals, schools, and community outreach programs.

“The Methodist Church in Kenya is now fully constituted in governance and firmly grounded in mission,” he assured partners, noting that the new leadership is prepared to serve with renewed clarity and dedication.

In his closing remarks, Rev. Dr. Maromba invited Kenyans—both within and beyond the Methodist community—to reject fear and division while embracing courage, hope, and shared responsibility for the nation’s future. Accepting his mandate with humility, he promised to lead with grace and conviction.

“With God as our help, we step forward with renewed strength,” he declared. “May God go before us.”

The 60th Annual Conference stands as a defining milestone for the Methodist Church in Kenya, charting a fresh spiritual and national path founded on unity, accountability, and collective renewal.
